Mount Pleasant, SC, July 21, 2008--- Point Hope United Methodist Church has
selected
Stubbs Muldrow Herin Architects (SMHa) as the architectural and planning firm for the
church's
sanctuary building on its 7-acre parcel of land in Park West. This will be the first building for
Point Hope which currently holds worship services at Jennie Moore Elementary. SMHa was selected by the
church because of their experience with a wide variety of projects including residential, commercial
and church projects.
"We worked closely with the Point Hope building team to create a church that reflected a Lowcountry style
with a welcoming atmosphere. We designed the floor plan with the anticipation of future growth.
This will be the first of several structures that will help the church serve the community," explains
Steve Graudin, vice president of SMHa.
The only Methodist church in the northern Mount Pleasant area, Point Hope offers a traditional worship service
on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Additionally, Sunday school, child care and children services are available
to all members and guests. The church office and outreach center is located in Park West.
"Jennie Moore Elementary has been a convenient location for our church and we greatly appreciate the school's
willingness to allow us to have our worship service there," says Joe Cate, minister of Point Hope. "As our
church continues to grow, we are starting to focus on building a permanent home on our land in Park West.
We have a lot of work ahead of us but the enthusiasm of our members and our dedication to connect
spiritually with the community and provide a church home for Mount Pleasant citizens is our driving force."
