For Our Children
We value community and family at Point Hope United Methodist Church. We are a proud sponsor of the Town of Mount Pleasant Recreation
Department. We sponsor a youth baseball team, the
Point Hope Pelicans and our pastor, Joe Cate is the team's head coach. We encourage our
members to come out and support our team and show your team spirit. We also host two
cub scout troops during the week and a Daisy Troop. If you are part of a children's group and are in need of a meeting space, let us know.
For Our Community
Financial Planning
Point Hope United Methodist Church is actively involved in offering a variety of financial planning courses, seminars and live videos through Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. Call our office at (843) 971-6377 to find out when the next opportunity will be available.
Health Kits for Haiti
The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has asked for help in providing supplies to Haiti. We will be collecting items for Health Kits for the next few weeks.
The items needed (MUST be NEW) are:
- Hand towels (no kitchen towels)
- Washcloths
- Combs (large and sturdy, not pocket-sized)
- Nail files or fingernail clippers (no emery boards or toenail clippers)
- Bars of soap (3 oz. and up)
- Toothbrushes (single brushes only in original wrapper, no child-size brushes)
- Adhesive plastic strip sterile bandages
Monetary donations are needed too. Make your donations out to Point Hope UMC and designate it for "Haiti." If you have any questions, please contact Sandy Riley at (843) 881-0785.
Child Protection Training
We are an active supporter of Darkness to Light and their mission to protect our children. Each year, we host community-wide training opportunities for individuals interested in preventing, recognizing, reacting and responding to child sexual abuse. Training opportunities are held once or twice a year. Check our
calendar or call our office to find out when the next training for the Stewards of Children program will take place.
Meeting Space
Point Hope offers our facility to local community groups in need of meeting space. If you know of a group or are a member
of a group that needs a place to get together, let us know. Our doors are open, just give us a call or stop by.
For Our Fellow Christian Community
Northern Mount Pleasant is a fast-growing community and everyone at Point Hope is excited to see a number of new churches starting up. To
us this means the word of God is being spread and making our community stronger. We would like to support all area churches. If you know of an event
taking place for a fellow church, let us know. Yard sales, bake sales, fish fry, programs, bible studies, etc.
