Second Mile Award

In February 2009, Point Hope United Methodist Church received the "Going the Second Mile - Advance Special Ministries" award from the South Carolina United Methodist Church Board of Global Ministries. This award is given annually to congregations that go above and behond to reach out to God's people in need in South Carolina and around the world.

Following is the letter from Michael B. Henderson, chairman of the Conference Board of Global Ministries.

February 10, 2009

Dear Friends,

Thank you for going the "Second Mile" in your outreach to those in need in our state and around the world through your gifts to the Advance Special Ministries Fund in 2007. Through your faithfulness and sacrifice, you have helped feed hungry children, offer counsel and aid to those in need, take a stand for the values we as United Methodist Christians hold, provide warmth and security to people living in sub-standard housing, and countless other things.

Please thank the members of your congregation for all they do in the name of Christ.
