Point Hope United Methodist Church is known in the community as a giving congregation. Part of our mission is to serve and through our service we are doing God’s work. There are many ways to become involved with mission projects at Point Hope. Here are just a few.

American Red Cross Blood Drive

Point Hope is actively involved in supporting the American Red Cross. Blood drives are scheduled periodically throughout the year and we encourage our congregation and members of the community to join us.

Adopt-a-Highway

Point Hope adopted a stretch of Highway 17 just north of Park West. Our responsibility is to pick up the trash alongside the road twice a year. Watch the bulletin for announcements!

Windwood Family Services

Point Hope has an ongoing relationship with Windwood Family Services. In the past we have donated school uniforms and school supplies to the residents of Windwood Farm and for several years they have been the charity recipient of our annual Fall Festival BBQ fundraiser. We also collect toys at Christmas time to give to the boys. Windwood Family Services is a group home for boys located in Awendaw, SC. To learn more, visit windwoodfarm.org.

School Supplies Drive

Point Hope collects school supplies during the summer to fill bags for UMCOR Sager Brown. The UMCOR Sager Brown Depot is the headquarters for UMCOR’s relief-supply operations. Watch for updates each summer!

Food Collection for Ocean Grove Food Pantry

The first Sunday of each month we ask for food items for the Ocean Grove Food Pantry. Following the church service, the donated items are delivered to Ocean Grove UMC in Awendaw, SC to be distributed to families in need. Good items to bring include soups, rice and grains, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, anything kid-friendly and healthy!

Operation: Christmas Child

Each November, members of Point Hope UMC are encouraged to contribute to this very special mission project. Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. People of all ages can be involved in this simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas — Jesus Christ. To learn more, visit Samaritan’s Purse website.

Newborns in Need

Point Hope is proud to support the local Newborns in Need chapter. Newborns in Need makes and donates baby gowns, blankets and other essential baby items to hospitals, homeless shelters and other organizations that provide for premature and newborn infants.
