Happy Shrove Tuesday Point Hope!
It is the day before Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. And if you aren’t sure what all that means, I’d like to invite you to our Ash Wednesday service tomorrow night at 6 p.m. The service is about an hour long with a time for prayer, reflection, a short message, music, the imposition of ashes and Communion. It will be a contemplative service and I hope you can come.
Lent is a time that is meant to get our attention and cause us to wake up and change and be more of who God is calling us to be. Our new sermon series throughout Lent is called Listen to Him. The books by J.D. Walt are available on the table in the Gathering Hall and start with a daily reading on Ash Wednesday. The study is taken from the Book of Luke 9:18 through 24:8. Please use the cards on the new sermon series in your seat to invite a friend, co-worker or neighbor to Point Hope. Many Connection groups are also studying “Listen to Him” and if you would like to join one for the next six weeks, let me know. I’d love to help you find a group.
Thank you for being such a generous church and providing food for the reception following the memorial service for Peter Steketee on Sunday. The service starts at 2 p.m. and we still have a few spots left to sign-up if you’re interested in bringing something. Call Megan in the office to find out how you can help or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Lastly, it’s been great having Rounette Altman and Becca Tiller’s rug hooking group in the church this week! They tell me that we have “experienced hookers” in the building! Lol! (I wonder what my DS would say about that???) Seriously though, stop by and see their beautiful handiwork!
