Derek has served in a music ministry role for almost 15 years. He taught music in public schools for 13 years and is now the academy director of Black Tie Music Academy in Park West. He has a music education degree from Western Carolina University and loves his family and serving God.
Communications Director & Assistant to the Pastor
Megan was raised in the United Methodist Church and is passionate about promoting God’s love and Point Hope UMC’s mission to the community. Before serving at Point Hope, she spent 11 years working in public relations for the nonprofit sector. She has a Journalism degree from Marshall University and loves to spend time with her family.
Director of Kid’s Ministries
Evelyn and her family moved to Mount Pleasant from Indianapolis and found their church family at Point Hope before finding a house. Her passion is to share what has been truth in her own life: God is good, faith works. Knowing God is good for families. God is especially good for kids. She is excited to bring that same passion to Point Hope’s kid’s ministries.
Child Care Attendant
La’Aysha is a native of Hollywood, SC. She began working in Point Hope’s nursery almost four years ago when she was a student at the College of Charleston. In addition to serving at Point Hope, she teaches special education in the Dorchester County School District 4. She looks forward to providing a safe, loving environment for babies and toddlers while parents worship.
Ramiro was raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Ramiro began his musical education when he was a teenager, studying piano, musical theory, composition, improvisation, and arranging. As a pianist and musical director, he recently finished a 10-year long stint on cruise ships, leading the on-board orchestras with Celebrity Cruises, Crystal Cruises, Norwegian Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean. Ramiro lives in Summerville with his wife Sara.
Shannon is originally from New Jersey and moved to Mount Pleasant with her husband and three daughters late in 2017. She has a degree in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Montclair State University. Prior to moving, she had worked as a bookkeeper for a nonprofit organization. She is passionate about serving God and her Point Hope community.
